Annie Vasquez Gonzales
Court Liaison
Real legal change must address the psychological and systemic factors that lead people into the justice system.
About Annie
Annie Vasquez Gonzales earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Monroe University. She is currently a first-year student in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at Long Island University Post, where she continues to develop her expertise in psychology, behavioral science, and the intersection of mental health and the legal system.
Previously, she served as a Court Advocate with the Bronx Connects Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) Program, supporting justice-involved individuals through court updates, group sessions, and direct advocacy. This experience strengthened her commitment to restorative justice, early intervention, and community-based alternatives to incarceration. It also reinforced her belief in approaches that prioritize rehabilitation, accountability, and opportunities for individuals to successfully reintegrate into their communities.
Ms. Vasquez Gonzales is a dedicated professional in criminal justice and behavioral science, committed to advancing legal reform through psychological insight, advocacy, and community engagement. Her work is grounded in the belief that meaningful legal change must address the psychological and systemic factors that contribute to involvement in the criminal justice system, particularly in communities where trust in legal institutions is low and opportunities are limited.
Beyond her academic and professional work, Ms. Vasquez Gonzales has dedicated eight years to volunteering with Kids Need More, supporting children with cancer and other serious illnesses. As a member of the Leadership Committee, she helps develop programs and outreach initiatives that provide hope, resources, and support to children and families facing difficult circumstances. She also currently serves as a Basic Life Support EMT with the Central Islip-Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where she responds to emergencies and assists with recruitment. These experiences have strengthened her commitment to serving Latino communities and other vulnerable populations through crisis response, advocacy, and community engagement.
Ms. Vasquez Gonzales currently works with the Institute of Psychological Resilience, which specializes in forensic psychological case analysis and assessment. Her responsibilities include court preparation, administrative coordination, and psychologically informed advocacy. Through this work, she continues to explore the role of psychological science in understanding legal cases and supporting more informed approaches to the justice system.
Her long-term goal is to promote fair and equitable legal reform by integrating psychological expertise into research, advocacy, and policymaking. Across her academic, professional, and community-based work, she is committed to amplifying the voices of individuals and communities that have historically been unheard. She envisions a future in which psychological insight helps inform legal systems, and everyone has meaningful access to justice, healing, and the opportunity to thrive.
